What Areas Can You Target with Skin-Tightening Sofwave™?

Many patients seeking a more youthful look focus on skin tightening for the face. Well, why not? The face is the first thing most other people see and notice about us, so it makes since that we want to put our best face forward—as the saying goes. Sofwave™ at our Wisconsin-based center is a wonderful treatment for giving an aging face a more youthful look—but we want to be sure that everyone understands that the face is just one piece of the aging puzzle!

First, a reminder about Sofwave™: This skin-tightening treatment is entirely non-invasive, using ultrasound technology to create controlled micro-injuries that trigger production of important proteins (collagen and elastin) in the skin’s subdermal layer. Firm, tight, youthful-looking skin has ample collagen and elastin levels, but both proteins diminish with age, leading to laxity, wrinkles, and sagging. Creating new collagen and elastin has the opposite effect by restoring structure and an ability to “snap back” and better conform to underlying contours.

Areas of the face that have begun to show laxity and other signs of collagen loss are ideal treatment zones for Sofwave™, which provides a noticeable improvement. The energy can be applied on the midface, next to the eyes, and on the forehead.

While facial rejuvenation is an effective way to “turn back the clock,” some people forget that skin below the chin also ages and shows signs of time’s passage. A face enlivened with renewed collagen production can even make an untouched neck stand out more, since the laxity there would be more pronounced against the smoother surface above. The submental area directly below the chin, as well as the entire neck, are also appropriate treatment zones for Sofwave™.

Farther down, ultrasound energy can also give the upper arms a tighter and firmer look, addressing a condition commonly referred to as “bat wings.” This is when lax skin hangs down from the upper arm.

Even farther down from there, Sofwave™ can also reduce the severity of cellulite on the thighs. Increasing skin’s thickness and boosting collagen levels can make dimpling less noticeable.

As you can see, there are plenty of applications for ultrasound-powered Sofwave™. Which will you choose?
