Chemical peels at Madison, WI’s Radiance Skin Therapy & Laser Center are made up of customizable product blends to meet the unique needs of your skin—and we know that those needs are not always consistent! Not only does skin change over time as you age, but it is also impacted by the seasons, stress, and other variables.
Our team wants to get to know your skin—and you!—so we can help you meet your aesthetic goals and maintain your skin health, no matter the time of year or what’s happening in the rest of your life.
What Can Chemical Peels Do?
Because of the aging process and environmental stressors, our skin cells tend to slow down and become “sluggish” over time. This leads to dullness, dryness, and visible signs of breakdown and damage.
Regular chemical peels can help to rejuvenate your look by revitalizing your skin and giving its cells a “push” back toward being productive. This makes peels ideal for addressing a range of concerns, such as dryness, uneven skin tone, skin texture, congested pores, dullness, acne, and more!
Specifically, chemical peels offer numerous benefits, including lightening pigmentation irregularities, reducing fine lines, increasing skin hydration, strengthening the epidermis (outermost layer of skin), and restoring a healthy glow.

What Types of Chemical Peels Are Available?
There are different levels of peels, each with a different intensity and intended result. At Radiance Skin Therapy & Laser Center, the two main peels we offer are superficial chemical peels (also known as “exfoliations”) and medium-depth chemical peels.
Exfoliations are useful for helping acne patients maintain a clearer complexion, especially when applied every six to eight weeks. Consistent peels are important for maintaining cosmetic results.
We often recommend one to two medium-depth peels per year to generate more noticeable changes when addressing acne scarring, evening out pigment irregularities, and improving fine lines.
What Happens Before and After Chemical Peel Sessions?
Using medical-grade skincare products prior to an exfoliation is not necessary, but it can be helpful in maximizing results. These peels typically require no downtime, though they are still powerful enough to generate visible rejuvenation.
For best results with medium-depth peels, we recommend that you use medical-grade skincare products for six to eight weeks before a treatment. In fact, these peels can be incredibly effective when combined with medical grade products to help aging skin conditions. Medium-depth peels require minimal down time after, during which you will likely experience skin pinkness tightness, sloughing, and flaking. This is part of the healing and rejuvenation process.
What Other Skin Treatments Are Available?
Chemical peels are great for rejuvenating the skin, but they are not the only option at Radiance Skin Therapy & Laser Center. Microdermabrasion, microneedling, HydraFacial® MD, and more are also available. It’s best to speak with your aesthetician to decide the best treatment plan for your skin and to help you reach your goals.
