PDO Threads
Tighten Sagging Facial Skin with a Thread Lift in Madison, WI
Traditionally, the only way of addressing jowls or “deflated” skin was with surgery to physically remove the excess and sagging tissue. Now, however, a new, innovative method is available: PDO Threads. Madison, WI’s Radiance Skin Therapy & Laser Center provides thread lifts to restore a firmer, younger-looking appearance for both women and men.
Young, healthy skin is firm and snaps back into its shape quickly when it’s pulled or pinched, but aging skin eventually becomes thinner and weaker over time as it’s constantly exposed to external elements like UV radiation from sunlight, air pollution, and other toxins. Normal aging, hereditary factors, weight fluctuations, and pregnancy are other common contributors to the skin’s loss of collagen, elastin, and fat support. PDO Threads address all of this.
What Are PDO Threads?
Thread lift is a non surgical procedure that bridges the gap between injectable treatments and a surgical options. PDO Threads are mainly used for repositioning the skin on the face to restore definition by pulling sections of the skin tight, using temporary, dissolvable sutures to hold the tissue in place. The sutures are studded with painless barbs, which grip into the tissue below the surface to hold the skin in an elevated position. This results in a subtle lift, which will continue to progress as the threads dissolve.
FDA-cleared polydioxanone or PDO Threads from PDO Max are one of the three types of sutures used for a thread lift. PDO thread lifts make use of ultra thin, medical-grade biodegradable polyester sutures ideal for facial rejuvenation.
When PDO Threads are inserted through a cannula, after the area has been de-sensitized with a local anesthetic, they not only keep the skin suspended in a more youthful position, but also encourage increased collagen production, making the skin noticeably fuller, firmer, and stronger. By triggering collagen creation, PDO Threads also delay future sagging.
There’s virtually no recovery time needed after having a thread lift. Patients can go back to their usual activities right away, but will usually experience some mild bruising, swelling, and tenderness during the first two days. It’s best to avoid strenuous exercise for two to three weeks.
The results from PDO Threads are visible as soon as the threads are inserted, and the youthful contours continue to improve as the threads are absorbed by the skin. PDO Threads typically last for about six months.
What Can PDO Threads Address?
PDO Threads are commonly used on several areas of the face where signs of aging usually appear, including the areas surrounding the brow line, forehead, cheeks, jaw, neck, and eyes. Almost any area of the face or neck could benefit from a thread lift, and patients can choose to target one part or multiple sections in the same session. PDO Threads improve the following concerns:
- Jowls
- Fine Lines and Wrinkles
- Nasolabial Folds
- Skin Laxity
Are There Other Skin Tightening Options?
Along with PDO Threads, Radiance Skin Therapy & Laser Center offers a variety of other skin resurfacing and tightening options. Dermal fillers are a temporary, less invasive way of adding volume to the skin to give it a subtle lift or redefine contours of the jawline and cheeks. Though they aren’t as effective as PDO Threads for drooping skin, fillers correct moderate to severe wrinkles or make the cheeks look higher and more defined. Other treatments for making the skin firmer include laser skin resurfacing, IPL, chemical peels, and microneedling. These work by promoting gradual collagen production to improve the skin’s strength and appearance. PDO Threads are often used in combination with these other methods to optimize results.
